The internet and media have been awash with celebration and remembrance of the Lunar landing on July 20, 1969 – now 50 years past. Here at Sill-TerHar Maserati, we also would like to take a minute to remember another icon from 50 years ago – the Maserati Ghibli SS.

About the Maserati Ghibli SS

The Maserati Ghibli was once a two-door gran turismo, or sports coupe, released in 1967. 1969 brought the addition of the Maserati Ghibli SS, a more powerful version of the Ghibli. The 1969 Ghibli SS, released the same year as the Lunar landing, boasted a sleek, ultra-modern profile with a contemporary wedge-shape, a unique front fascia, and an elegant, sporty interior. A large V8 powered the Ghibli, making it one of the more powerful sports cars of its day.

About the Current New Maserati Ghibli Sedan

The new Maserati Ghibli shares a name with the Ghibli of years past as well as a dedication to performance purity. The new Ghibli, like the old Ghibli, offers an available V8 engine. Today's Ghibli, though, is a more practical (but still sleek) four-door sedan. Boasting the latest infotainment technologies, safety features, and premium amenities, the new Ghibli is just as advanced today as the now classic Ghibli was in its day.
